Mildred Chapel Missionary Baptist Church held its first service in the new sanctuary on the first Sunday in June 2002, led by Reverend Shirley Hill and Reverend Garry Bryant. Seventeen years later, we continue to enjoy these services, guided by the Holy Spirit and our former pastor, Reverend Walter Cherry, Jr.
In 2009, under Pastor Cherry's leadership and with the support of the congregation, a new project was initiated to expand our dining room. By the third Sunday in October 2010, we celebrated two major milestones: the church's 100th Anniversary and the completion of our new Fellowship Hall.
This Fellowship Hall was dedicated and named The W.C. Fellowship Hall in honor of Pastor Rev. Walter Cherry, Jr.

At Mildred Baptist Church, the Women's Ministry has always stood as a pillar of strength, unity, and spiritual growth. Our women carry forward a legacy of faith, leadership, and service that spans generations.
The Men's Ministry equips men to be spiritual leaders through discipleship, accountability, and service. We believe that strong men build strong families, and strong families build a strong church.
"Guiding us with Faith and Compassion for over 50 years"
Rev. Walter Cherry, Jr. served as pastor of Mildred Baptist Church for over 50 years, from 1973 until his passing in June 2024. Under his leadership, the church built a new sanctuary in 1991, marking a significant milestone in its growth. Rev. Cherry also guided the church to financial freedom with the mortgage burning in 1997.
He led the creation of the W.C. Fellowship Hall in 2010, celebrating the church's 100th anniversary. His unwavering faith and dedication to the congregation left a lasting legacy, impacting both the spiritual and physical growth of Mildred Baptist Church.
In 2024, Rev. Garry Bryant was elected as pastor, continuing the work Rev. Cherry began. His vision and service will never be forgotten.
